School of Computing Assistant Professor Muhammad Naveed Aman has joined the editorial board of the IEEE Internet of Things (IoT) Journal as an associate editor.
The IEEE IoT Journal publishes papers on the latest advances and review articles on various aspects of IoT. Topics include IoT system architecture, IoT enabling technologies, IoT communication and networking protocols, IoT services and applications, and the social implications of IoT. The IEEE IoT Journal has an Impact Factor — a metric indicating the average number of citations journal articles have received within in the past two years — of 10.6. It is ranked as the top Internet of Things journal and among the top 10 computer science journals.
“Apart from being a very good sign of recognition, joining the editorial board of a top journal is like being on the front lines of sharing important ideas,” Aman said. “It's exciting because you get to help decide what information is worth sharing, and you play a key role in bringing valuable knowledge to the world.”
Muhammad Naveed Aman joined the School of Computing in 2021. Prior to becoming a faculty member at Nebraska, Aman was a Senior Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore and an assistant professor at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences in Pakistan. His current research interests include the Internet of Things, network security, wireless and mobile networks, and secure embedded systems.
IEEE recognized Aman for his achievements in 2023 by elevating him to Senior Member grade. Senior Member is the highest grade for which IEEE members can apply. Candidates must be in professional practice for at least ten years and demonstrated significant performance over a period of at least five of those years. Aman has served on the program committees of top IEEE conferences including IEEE GLOBECOM and IEEE SMARTGRIDCOMM. He also served as the publication chair of IEEE PAINE. In addition, Aman has been included in the 2022 and 2023 Stanford-Elsevier Top 2% Scientist Rankings, a prestigious list identifying the world's leading and most-cited researchers.
