School of Computing Associate Professor Justin Bradley was recently named a Richard L. and Carol S. McNeel Associate Professor.
The professorship, awarded by the College of Engineering and founded by Richard L. and Carol S. McNeel, is a four-year endowed professorship that includes an annual fund of $10,000.
"Receiving this professorship helps increase our growing profile in NIMBUS and improves the reach of our recruiting and outreach efforts, particularly our NSF-supported REU site,” Bradley said. “I hope the University of Nebraska–Lincoln becomes the top choice of students and funders who want to conduct world class research in drones and robotics.”
Dr. Bradley's research lies at the intersection of aerospace autonomy, control theory, and cyber-physical systems (CPS). He has been conducting drone research for over 18 years and is a leader in drone autonomy and deployment. Dr. Bradley is an NSRI Fellow, an AIAA Associate Fellow, and an NSF CAREER awardee.
Dr. Bradley said he is grateful for this opportunity and many others provided by the university and the College of Engineering, and he is especially appreciative of his collaborative colleagues and fellow researchers.
"It takes many people to make a research program successful. I'm grateful for my colleagues Drs. Brittany Duncan and Carrick Detweiler for their support. I'm especially grateful to our students in NIMBUS particularly over the past few years as we tackled a large swarm project.”
