The Senior Design Capstone provides an opportunity for industry and academic sponsors to engage and utilize the minds of some of the brightest students on campus. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the Senior Design Capstone was grateful to be supported by the following sponsors.
Legal Aid of Nebraska Legal Outcomes and Public Accountability Data Visualizer
Develop an open-source single-page application that provides Legal Aid executives and the public with the means to generate interactive real-time graphs about legal performance and enables them to analyze work done across Nebraska.

Nebraska Environmental Trust Grants Management
Develop a system to replace the current grant application and management system used by the Nebraska Environmental Trust enabling citizens to submit their grant applications via the web.

Sandhills Publishing Video Marketing Platform
Create a platform that will enable Sandhills Marketplace sellers to quickly create appealing videos that will engage potential customers and aid in selling their product.

UNL CSE Extensible UAV Interface
Develop a base interface for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that can be extended to current and future projects undertaken by UNL. The interface is capable of displaying several aspects of the UAV flights on a map, such as temperature, pitch, battery levels and altitude.

UNL CSE Math Day
Develop a software solution to help find, vet, and schedule volunteers as well as administer the annual MathDay event at UNL.

UNL CSE Swindr
Build a platform to automatically diagnose illness and behavioral problems in pigs using 3D camera technology, which allows farmers and producers to monitor the health of individual animals in livestock pens and intervene before a problem becomes too advanced.

UNL CSE Virtual Beef Carcass Anatomy Display
Create a website for viewing and learning about beef carcasses by using 3D modeling tools provided by Sketchfab.

UNL Erudite Technology Learning Academy
Develop a Web Graphics Library learning game that helps children in kindergarten and first grade struggling with their reading skills.

WEX Health Mobile Application Enhancements
Design and develop four new features on WEX Health's native Android/iOS mobile app: Scan Barcode, File Upload, File Size Reduction, and Fingerprint Authentication.

Advancing Innovation at Design Studio
Design Studio at the Raikes School is committed to delivering innovative, real-world solutions while educating Nebraska’s brightest students. With 132 students, 19 partner organizations, and 24 diverse projects in 2016–2017, the program integrated design thinking and emerging technologies to tackle complex challenges. Corporate partners like Nelnet, WEX Health, and Flywheel provided invaluable support and mentorship. Through nearly 36,000 hours of work, students developed impactful solutions, gaining hands-on experience and transitioning from the classroom to industry with confidence.
The School of Computing Senior Design Program held its end-of-year project showcase event on Friday, April 21, 2017.
