Application and Admission Information

Admission Requirements

You are guaranteed admission if you meet the performance requirements and core course requirements if applicable. Students who don’t meet admission requirements are strongly encouraged to submit an application for admission anyway. Your admission will be determined by a committee appointed by the director of admissions and your complete academic profile will be considered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When can I apply?

A: When you are ready to make the transfer to UNL, an application can be submitted on the Office of Admissions webpage.

Q: Do I need to meet with an advisor before applying?

A: No, once you submit an application and are officially admitted, you will go through the New Student Enrollment process to register for classes.

Q: How do I complete my application?

A: The Office of Admissions transfer requirements webpage lists out all requirements including the documents needed to be evaluated for admissions.

Q: How do my classes transfer?

A: Students can use the UNL Course Equivalency List to view a list of evaluated credit from their current institution and how it applies at UNL.

Q: Do I need to complete my associate’s degree before transferring?

A: No, students can be admitted as a transfer student with as little as 12 hours completed at a different institution.

Q: How will the transfer courses appear on my transcript and degree audit?

A: As long as a C or better is in earned in your course at a different institution, the credit will transfer. The GPA you earn does not transfer unless the course was taken at a different University of Nebraska institution (UNO or UNK). Please follow the admissions guidelines to submit your transcript.
